Congress Seva Dal is a volunteer organisation rooted in the belief that meaningful change begins with people coming together to serve their communities. Its journey has evolved alongside India's national movement and the changing needs of society.

1923
Founded in 1923, the organisation was created to build a disciplined, service-oriented cadre dedicated to India's freedom movement.
1924
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru became its first President, helping shape a generation of volunteers committed to courage, sacrifice and national service.
Freedom Movement
Seva Dal took part in public service and the freedom struggle, building a tradition of organised volunteer action that continued through generations.
Today

The Vision That
Started a Movement
Dr. Hardikar's early experience during public health emergencies shaped his belief that India needed citizens who could step forward, remain disciplined and serve when their communities needed them. From this conviction came a volunteer force built around unity, discipline, patriotism and service before self.
What began as a small group of trained volunteers grew into a lasting movement. Generations of Seva Dal workers have carried that spirit forward through organised, hands-on service in communities across India.
